What is the single most important ingredient in creating a successful public place?
Generosity.
Public places work when they genuinely give something back to people: shade, delight, belonging, safety, encounter, memory, or simply the feeling that you are invited to be there.
It was an honour for CONTEXT Director Hamish Dounan to be invited to speak at the Australian Placemaking Summit as part of a panel discussion on landscape design and its key role in urban placemaking.
Great to share the discussion with Anika Hoffman, Associate Director, Landscape Architecture at GroupGSA, Sacha Coles, Global Design Director at ASPECT Studios, and Stephen Burton, Design Director at POMO.
