Commissioned by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, CONTEXT prepared a 20-year precinct plan for Lane Cove National Park, grounded in a vision that acknowledges the site’s Aboriginal heritage, post-1788 history, and rich natural values.
Through extensive stakeholder consultation, site analysis, data capture, and on-ground walks, the plan identifies a series of transformative landscape opportunities aimed at enhancing the visitor experience while protecting the ecological and cultural significance of the Lane Cove River Valley.
Location:
Lane Cove, NSW
Client:
National Parks + Wildlife Service
Duration:
2022
With the park embedded within a suburban setting, the plan responds to the unique challenges and opportunities of its proximity to local communities. It seeks to strengthen connections to Country, conserve native flora and fauna, and sensitively upgrade park infrastructure and recreational offerings.
The plan positions Lane Cove National Park as a vital cultural and ecological asset within Greater Sydney, encouraging deeper community engagement, stewardship, and appreciation of this significant landscape.
