CONTEXT led the landscape design for the transformation of the former West Olympia Theatre into 25hours Hotel The Olympia, a new mixed use hotel located within one of Oxford Street’s most significant heritage buildings. Working closely with the project team, CONTEXT shaped a unified landscape strategy that supports the adaptive reuse of the site, strengthens the hotel’s identity and delivers an authentic visitor experience rooted in place.
The design applies biophilic principles, refined planting composition and a strong landscape narrative to create a distinctive sense of arrival, enhance the transition between public realm and hotel interior and provide green moments across podium and rooftop spaces. These elements collectively offer guests a calm, characterful environment that reflects both the site’s cinematic past and the energy of its Paddington setting.
The project forms part of the wider renewal of the Oxford Street corridor and is anticipated to inject close to $8 million in additional revenue into the local economy. CONTEXT’s approach ensures the landscape plays a central role in this transformation, enriching the hotel experience and contributing to the precinct’s ongoing cultural and economic revitalisation.
