Careers: Senior Landscape Architect

About the role

Ready to lead, design, and inspire? We’re looking for a Senior Landscape Architect to take charge on exciting projects, mentor a talented team, and deliver practical, stunning landscapes. If you thrive on creativity, collaboration, and making an impact, this is the role for you.

Ideal candidate

You are a creative, passionate, solution-focused professional with a strong background in landscape architecture, project leadership, and team management. You have a proven track record in delivering high-quality, practical, and innovative landscape designs across medium to large-scale projects. You thrive in both collaborative team environments and autonomous roles, and you have the interpersonal skills to mentor junior staff while building strong client relationships.

You will bring:

  • University Degree in Landscape Architecture (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years’ landscape design experience, including site analysis, design development and documentation, and plant knowledge.
  • Experience managing project teams, mentoring staff, and leading major projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit, and intermediate skills in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign is a plus.
  • Exceptional hand sketching and 3D skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to deliver work with precision, attention to detail, and a client-focused approach.

A typical day would involve:

  • Leading and managing major landscape projects from concept through to construction, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Undertaking site analysis, design development, preparation of drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Conducting site inspections, contract administration, and quality assurance tasks.
  • Preparing presentation materials, graphics, and visualisations for clients, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Mentoring junior staff, providing guidance, and fostering professional development.
  • Liaising with clients and consultants and contributing to tender submissions and marketing initiatives.
  • Participating in company meetings, office duties, and promoting continuous learning and improvement across the team.

Accountable for:

  • Achieving expected productivity with billable ranges of 85–95%.
  • Assisting the Project Director to ensure the project team is efficient in the work.
  • Ensuring the effective utilisation of staff reporting to the position.
  • Timely, accurate, and compliant completion of tasks in line with company, client, and regulatory standards.
  • Client, management, and staff satisfaction through excellent service delivery.
  • Minimising design and documentation rework or redrafting.
  • Delivering creative, practical, cost-effective landscape designs and project management.
  • Following and promoting Company Policies, Procedures, and Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a highly sought-after, vibrant, and design-focused studio in Sydney.
  • Engage in a studio environment in a creative, and central location.
  • Work on diverse projects that positively shape communities.
  • Enjoy a collaborative, inclusive, and flexible workplace that values creativity and innovation.
  • Quarterly rostered day off over and above annual leave.
