Warrumbungle National Park Visitor Centre

CONTEXT, in collaboration with TKD architects prepared a site-specific landscape detail design for a new visitor centre following the destruction of the previous building by bushfire. The plan incorporated suitable indigenous plants, an improved sense of arrival and safe and uncomplicated vehicle, bike and pedestrian movement. A tactile environmental children’s play area was integrated with a thematic garden in the design.

Location:
Warrumbungles National Park, NSW
Client:
NSW National Parks & Wildlife Services
Duration:
2016 – 2018
Team:
TKD Architects, Woolacotts

The landscape design is consistent with the setting and incorporates interpretive design to enhance the visitor experience, particularly after hours.

CONTEXT supervised the project to construction and the Centre opened in 2017.
