CONTEXT, in collaboration with The Cox Group, worked with Singapore Tourism Board to revitalise and enhance the main retail street in Singapore. Orchard Road will be an exciting green seam where the ecology of the City, Commerce and Technology fuses with the verdant landscape.

The landscape experience is lush, sensory and colourful, highlighting three distinctive retail precincts (Tanglin, Orchard, Somerset) with three distinctive landscape themes (Flowers, Forest, Fruits/Cultivated Nature) and four landscaped gateways, all unified by the over arching canopies of majestic Angsana trees.
New forms of green (canopies, arbours, turf carpets, movable planters) replicate the stratified landscape of the tropical forest to form green links, habitats, pocket parks and ‘lungs’ that revitalize the street morphology and urban ecology of the sidewalk. These emblematic landscapes “inhabit” the visitor experience and reinforce the placemaking values that make Singapore a ‘City in A Garden’.
