Oi Choong has over twenty five years of distinguished experience as a landscape architect in the public and private sectors. She has extensive experience in master planning, urban landscapes, waterfronts, planning new communities and campus landscapes.
Since establishing CONTEXT Landscape Design in 1990 she has directed award winning local and international landscape master planning projects in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Asia. These include the Kuching Waterfront Sarawak, East Malaysia, (World Waterfront Award 1994) Walsh Bay Redevelopment, Sydney (Lloyd Rees Award 2004) Centennial Parklands Tree Master Plan ( AILA Merit Award 2003) University of NSW Mall ( AILA Project Award 2001) M7 Westlink Orbital, Moore Park Plan of Management, Dubai Festival City, Nanjing Waterfront, China and University of Science and Technology, Shanghai.
Oi was a member of the master plan team for the 2000 Olympics at Olympic Park, Sydney and was involved in the design of numerous Olympic sites including the Rowing Facilities, Velodrome and the new Sydney Showground.
She has also served as a Board member of the Landscape Professions Registration Board, the Floriade Board of Management and the Festival Development Corporation Board, Mt Penang Parklands.


Hamish Dounan
Associate

Hamish has extensive experience in all aspects of landscape profession practice and the landscape construction industry. His landscape planning and design skills are backed by extensive site supervision experience and horticultural knowledge.
He has local and international project experience including working in town centre and residential masterplanning, public domain, urban improvement, streetscape and park design, infrastructure projects for major roads and transitways, office and commercial developments.
Hamish works effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, providing continuity to projects from design to completion. Since joining CONTEXT in 2006, he has provided project leadership and site supervision for the landscape works at Western Sydney Parklands, and is project landscape architect for Rutherford Market Place, Diamond Beach Resort, Second Ponds Creek, Greenway Park, The Ponds, Seascape, Green Square infrastructure, Moree Bypass and Emirates Luxury Resort.

Esther Dickens
Asscoiate Director

Esther is a registered Landscape Architect with over 10 years of professional experience in landscape architecture, architecture and urban design. She has managed projects ranging from strategic master planning to detailed design and delivery, in Australia, Asia and the Middle East. Esther has recenlty joined CONTEXT as an Associate Director. In her previous role, as Landscape Practice Leader at Woods Bagot, Esther led the design team for the Minto Concept Master Plan and DCP for the NSW Department of Housing and Landcom, the Sydney Water Headquarters for Multiplex and the Durrat Al Bahrain Master
Plan for Durrat Al Bahrain.
During her career Esther has developed a specialisation in the design of landscapes for health care facilities. She has been involved in planning, designing and delivering over 30
hospitals and health care facilities around Australia including the Concord Mental Health Precinct, currently under construction. She has also lectured on this topic at the Facility of the Builit Environment at the University of New South Wales. Esther has extensive experience in stakeholder and community consultation and the integration of stakeholder views into the design and planning process. Her projects for the Beachmere Town Centre Master Plan for Caboolture Shire Council and Minto Urban Renewal included effective community engagement processes which helped deliver a successful design outcome.
Esther has a double degree in landscape architecture and architecture. With this she brings an understanding of landscape design relevant to urban planning and architectural design, leading to the successful integration of the landscape as part of a holistic design solution. Her recent involvement in environmentally sustainable developments include a number of exciting corporate interior designs where she was involved in the integration of landscape in interior environment, for Phillips Fox in Melbourne and the Qantas First Class Lounges with Mark Newson and Patrick Blanc.

Uyen Bui
Associate

Uyen has local and international experience in landscape masterplanning, design and construction. She joined CONTEXT after two years working in London on large scale
masterplanning and resort projects. Uyen is experienced in the management and coordination of project teams for the production of design documentation as well as construction packages for medium to large scale projects. She also has strong technical knowledge of AutoCAD through the management of office CAD systems and documentation methodology as well as computer graphic skills.
Uyen has been involved in several major urban development foreshore and resort projects both locally and overseas. These include; Mixed residential development with golf course and resort hotel in Marrakech, Pylos and Romanos Resorts and conference centres in Greece, the first Banyan Tree resort in Europe. Local projects include The Rhodes peninsula mixed residential and commercial developments and foreshore design in NSW, Wollongong University, Innovation Campus for Post Graduate Studies and Khalifa Sports City in Qatar for the 2006 Asian Games.
Uyen is currently working on a number of large scale masterplanning, mixed use residential and coastal development projects in NSW involving strategic planning and landscape design.

Freya Mengler
Senior Landscape Architect

Freya has extensive experience in public domain and open space planning, environmental, educational and residential design. She has practised in Perth and Sydney and spent three years working as a Landscape Architect in Glasgow and London.
Freya’s strengths include ecologically sustainable design, masterplanning and visual impact assessments. She commenced her career working in a multi-disciplinary company with environmental mappers and scientists on ecologically sensitive areas such as coastal, bush and riverine environments. During this time she honed her skills of planning, community consultation, ecology and botany.
In the UK, Freya’s experience included working on educational facilities ranging from primary and high school campuses, colleges and designing for children with special needs. She also worked on masterplanning and detail design of luxury resorts and for hospitals. Freya worked as an Environmental Engineer for the London Borough of Enfield, gaining experience in local government and working on broad scale projects such as feasibility studies, visual impact assessments and management plans.

Cate Wallace
Senior Landscape Architect

Cate has extensive experience in public domain and open space planning, commercial, educational and institutional landscape design. She has worked in Newcastle and Sydney in both private practice and Local Government. Cate’s project experience ranges from Sydney, the Hunter and northern NSW.
Cate’s strengths include masterplanning, detail design, environemntal design and assessment, heritage and visual impact assessments. She commenced her career working in a multi-disciplinary company with Architects, Interior Architects, townplanners, and heritage consultants. .
Cate is experienced in the coordination of project teams for the production of design documentation as well as construction packages for small to medium scale projects. She has strong technical knowledge and documentation and graphic skills.
