Macquarie University Masterplan

Location Macquarie Park, NSW
Client Macquarie University
Project Phase Masterplan
Project Duration 2012 - 2014

CONTEXT has been involved with the master planning of the Macquarie University campus for the past decade, contributing to a number of major capital works projects as the campus’ Landscape Architect.

The current master plan is the result of a multidisciplinary effort involving architects, landscape architects, strategic planners, engineers, traffic consultants and place-making experts.

The master plan sets up strategic principles for consolidating existing precincts, new development sites, rationalisation of traffic and parking and an enhanced public domain.

The master plan is underpinned by major public domain interventions that will incorporate new signature campus gateways, a green heart for the campus, activated landscape circulation spines, vibrant courtyards, and restoration of the natural creeklines as unique recreational, scientific and educational assets.

Following on from the master plan, CONTEXT is currently preparing the Design Excellence Strategy and Urban Design Guidelines for the campus, which will continue to guide the ongoing development of the University.
