Working with COX Crone Architects, CONTEXT prepared the Landscape Master Plan for Stage II Dubai Festival City in the United Arab Emirates. The development incorporates residential and commercial buildings set within a high quality urban realm fronting Dubai Creek. A key initiative of the scheme is the thirty-two metre wide waterfront promenade or ‘Corniche’, linking a range of recreational landscape and urban settings including a boat quay, themed ’oases’, and artificial lagoons. The particular emphasis has been placed on energizing day and night use, with wide pavements, integrated furniture, lighting, signage and water feature animation.
