CONTEXT undertook the landscape master planning and detailed design for the ex-Glaxo Welcome site using the opportunity to provide a 'New Urbanism' approach to the landscape. The medium density residential development, which is linked by Robinia-lined private roads, was awarded the 2003 UDIA National Project Award for Medium Density Housing Developments and the 2000 UDIA National Project Award for Master Planning. The landscape gardens include formal French parterre-style roof gardens, Community Greens with tennis courts and swimming pools and palm-lined paths surrounding recreational facilities. Plane and Jacaranda street tree planting creates seasonal colour and a grand entrance to the estate, with a formal water feature and palm-lined signage planters completing the entry statement.
